Deb Stone is a lifelong musician and songwriter whose passion for music was ignited in her childhood, surrounded by a musically gifted family. Her early influences included a vaudevillian grandfather, a mother who sang and played piano, and a father who played guitar and banjo. By age 11, Deb had already begun writing songs and taught herself to play piano to accompany her voice. This early start paved the way for a lifelong journey in music, from singing in school choirs and leading performances to training as a mezzo-soprano under the guidance of renowned vocal coach Leonard Stine.

Her musical style evolved over the years, shaped by various genres, including bluegrass, rock, country, rhythm and blues, and pop. During her teenage years, she immersed herself in bluegrass, playing alongside her father, and later branched out into other styles. Deb’s go-to instrument is the six-string acoustic guitar, which she uses to write and perform songs that explore themes like love and heartbreak. With a catalog of hundreds of songs, she has recently turned her focus toward licensing her work for film, television, and other media, aiming to reach new audiences with her authentic storytelling and soulful melodies.

Even while building a successful career in the veterinary field, Deb has always found ways to weave music into her life. She has formed three veterinary-themed bands, using music as a creative outlet and a means to connect with others in the industry. Her songs have been featured at veterinary conferences, podcasts, and various events, bringing a unique blend of professional insight and artistic expression to her community. Deb’s commitment to music is not about fame but about sharing stories and connecting with others through the universal language of song.

In parallel with her musical pursuits, Deb has made significant contributions to the veterinary field, where she has worked for over 35 years. Currently, she serves as the Associate Director of Continuing Education at the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). She believes that having a creative outlet like music is essential for maintaining well-being, especially in demanding fields like veterinary medicine. Her journey reflects a seamless blend of passion for the arts and dedication to the veterinary community, always striving to bring joy and connection through her work, both musical and professional.
